FAQs
What can I expect?
The first step is finding the right therapist. I offer a free phone consultation so you can decide if I would be a good fit, and we can explore how I might be able to help you. During the first few sessions we will talk the struggles that bring you to therapy and define your goals. We will then work together to help you achieve those goals. Sometimes things can seem worse before they get better as you try new ways of approaching problems. Being open to new ideas and trying new things will likely improve the outcome.
How Does Telehealth Work?
Telehealth, also known as distance counseling, is the practice of providing therapy services via email, telephone, video or other electronic means. Sessions with me are always conducted via a HIPAA compliant video service. Distance counseling is appropriate for addressing most issues and can make counseling more accessible to those who have trouble making in-office appointments. It also protects the identity of the client and therapist in small communities.
Telehealth is not appropriate for everyone. Those who are in severe crisis, or who are actively contemplating suicide would not be best helped by telehealth and should seek a therapist locally. If these concerns ever arise during the course of our work, we will have an emergency plan in place to connect you with local resources.
Do you accept insurance?
I am a self pay and out of network provider which means I do not accept insurance. Therapy is an investment of time, energy and money and I promise to commit fully to your sessions, and hope for the same in return. Contact me directly for session costs. Sessions will be scheduled based on your needs and goals.
My objective is distinct from the traditional medical model, which often involves long-term therapy. Instead, I am on a mission to provide you with education and empowerment immediately, so you can regain control over your mental health. I don’t want to waste your valuable time. Nevertheless, it's essential to remember that your mental health journey is entirely centered around you and we will go as fast, or slow as you are ready for. I firmly believe in the importance of choice and control when it comes to your well-being.
Is there a cancelation fee?
Cancelation policy: You will be charged a full session rate for canceled or rescheduled sessions with less than 48 hours’ notice. In the event of an unavoidable conflict or emergency we may be able to make other arrangement to avoid the cancelation fee.
